I recently re-branded my "new-ish" website.

What I did is picked out a company or two that I really respected and "wouldn't mind if I reminded someone of." :) Then, I chose similar patterns on how they branded their company website, added a few twists of my own...and there you have it.

Ultimately, I try to be consistent all across the board. If I make a change, it must happen feasibly to every aspect of my company....or I wouldn't do it just now.

Smiles!

Hey Deb,
I was traveling at that time, too. What a nightmare. But, Mother Nature was sure showing her fury. I ended up leaving the airport and leaving to go home the next day. I only had to battle all the lines and canceled flights and trying to retrieve my luggage off two different planes.
Take care, Karen

Denise -

The JetBlue event was definitely being discussed on the plane as we were sitting there. (For those that don't know...a JetBlue flight also sat on the tarmac for many hours but never let passengers off. They received a lot of bad press.)

It was nice to be able to leave the plane...either to totally get off if you wanted to or to stretch our legs. It was actually cool to be walking on the tarmac. I couldn't change the situation at the time and in my heart I knew I couldn't get to Minneapolis any faster so choosing to have fun with it made it more bearable!

This happened earlier this year with JetBlue, and I thought the publicity would ensure that it didn't occur again. I guess the fact that they let you out once in awhile, whereas the others didn't get to leave the plane, helped.

Aunt Kathy & Kathy Z -

Thank you both for the words of wisdom and support. I know that my life does not solely revolve around my children, even though they are extremely important to me. This entire getting ready for college experience is continuing to teach me to value the time I have with them. It has made me pull back from work a bit (which is a good thing) and just be with them. They are both good boys and I will miss them when they are gone. I will also enjoy seeing them blossom and grow into the men they are supposed to be.

Thanks for the support!

Debbie :)

I have sent two children off to college and I guess because I was so excited to see them have a chance to blossom and grow that I did not look at the sad part of them leaving. Some teens are difficult to deal with and I think that is a way of helping us to let go; however, when it comes down to saying good-bye it is still hard on the heart. I look at college as a temporary place away from home where they can grow for the next several years without being shoved out into the world. The reward is the stimulating conversations at the dinner table when they come home and the pleasant attitude that has developed.

So my two kids went off to college where there was no family and they had not even been to the town. They applied to many and visited many and at the last moment threw in the ones they ended up choosing. There is really something wonderful about giving them access to their own life and taking back some of your's. You no longer lay awake listening to the door open at some not respectable hour in the night, or have a rush a friends hit the fridge at 2 am when you are in bed sound asleep. And for them, they develop a life, friends, interests that you don't have a part in except the values you that you sent them off with. Now that they are 28 and 30 we are amazed at their new friendships, the quality people they are, what they are bringing to the world, etc. I think this is truer than if they hang near home. Of course they retain the old links but the new ones round them out where we didn't or couldn't. Now, we are eager to welcome Patrick into our world in Seattle. :)

Debbie,

My comment isn't about the child, but about the insightfulness of the paragraph in italics in your response. I had to read it over several times, because it really covered the essence of why we need to be organized. The "less visible" results when listed like that are so powerful!
And even if we are mostly organized, we have all had times when unexpected life changes create disorganizatioin for awhile. (Like a new baby, new house, job change, etc). How great it feels when we dig out of that and get organized again!

Debbie --

I'm happy to receive this weblog and learn from your experiences and thoughts. My relatively new assistant is coming in today and the same concerns and issues exist for me ... also the relief at having the great support and seeing evidence of her competence. She has also just become someone I send out to implement organizing jobs I have assessed and for which I've developed recommendations for action. It occurs to me, as I anticipate her appearance in my office today, that I'm going to have to be careful to get the office support I want as we also negotiate the client services we provide. I think we can figure out the boundaries but the advantage of not meshing these two roles (of hers) is more obvious to me now than it was before I stepped into it. Thanks for including me in your promo mailing.
