OK, this sounds ominous. All I want to happen is for the blog to be listed under another domain name I own, which is on the same hosting account as my main domain (C4GP.com). I have plenty of server space and did not want to get another hosting account just for the blog.
At first it took several calls to my webhosting company, but they are not WordPress specialists. They could not tell me exactly what to do. Their concept of what to do was correct though. I appreciate the guys at WestHost giving it a try.
I went out to wonderful Google and entered in ‘multiple blogs’. I found these two good sources at Codex (the development group for WordPress) and with Shelly Powers and her Burningbird weblog. Shelly did an excellent job of describing things in plain English for those of us new to WordPress.
Kyle (my 15 year old son) and I together, using these instructions, were able to create this blog under WorkAndLiveSimply.com. This is not a task for someone brand new to looking at their webserver folders or afraid of FTPing files. If we can do it though, you can give it a try.
Big lesson from all of this…don’t be afraid – try it. As long as you backup what was there first and take very good notes about what you are changing, if you mess up, you can always restore things back to their original state. Plus, it was good for Kyle and I to have a project together.
Now I’m off and rolling!
