My two teenage boys say the darndest things. My youngest asks me every day when he comes home from school, “Why aren’t you working? You didn’t go to see clients today.”
Up until a few months ago, I was constantly at client sites. I wasn’t really billing (means making money) unless I was at their office helping them. This was just the way my business was structured.
I am in the process of reengineering my business to be more virtual. That involves changing my internal processes to work differently with clients so that I can bill from my own office – wherever that may be down the road. This includes more remote support and products.
Right now, I am heavy into writing. Taking all of the concepts I use with clients onsite and trying to see how I could adapt them for client’s remote to me.
To Kyle, my youngest son… just wait and see. The proof is in the bottom line. Will I be able to make more and travel less? Will I be able to be home to keep on top of you to do your homework or drive you to your sporting events? Can I still do this and be “working”?
