Instituting a New Habit

I have to apologize to you. I started this blog with the intent to keep you updated on a regular basis about my thoughts and ideas for making you more productive.

As you can see, I have not been doing a good job of keeping this blog updated. If I don’t write two things happen. 1) You lose interest and won’t keep coming back to let me know what you think of my ideas. And 2) I won’t capture my thoughts as easily. I will be tremedously unproductive trying to re-create the thoughts later. (Once you get to know me, you know I hate to waste time when I could have prevented it!)

So…I’m doing what I tell my clients to do. If you want to institute a new habit, you’ve got to repeat it for 21 days. I want to write in this blog. It’s actually therapeutic for me and I like having a dialog with you. My intention is to update this blog at least 3 times a week. I have added a task on my ACT! calendar every Monday, Wednesday and Friday to ‘Update blog’. This calendar is guidepost. I look at it every day to see what I should be doing. My memory is just not what it used be (or probably never was very good anyway.) I get to check off when I’ve completed the task and I like when that happens. If I don’t quite get to it on Mon, Wed or Fri I can at least make it happen 3 times in the week and I’ll know if I’ve done it. (That is the flexibility I’m adding into this goal…remember, it is to add an entry 3 times a week, not on specific days.)

So…here we go. I fell off the cart but I’m getting back on. Stick with me for 21 days and let’s see if I can make it work!

Hi CP Guru,
Looks good!!!
I might add an incentive for your readership to “stick with you,” such as building blocks to a process or some cool information that they can utilize and give them the info one blog at a time!

Thanks Beth. You are so right!

Coming real soon on my website is a free mini audio ecourse about unlocking the productivity in your office. This will be sent out in small chunks over a month and are short 3-5 minute lessons with ideas you can implement right away to save time, money and stress.

Stay tuned! I’ll let everyone know when this is available.
