It’s been several weeks now that Elizabeth has been working as my assistant. We sat down this week to talk about how things are working. I’m really pleased because she took the initiative to say it was important we do this.
Her biggest issue was she is frustrated that she cant’ get everything done. We created a Master To-Do List for her (in Word) that I add to every time I think of something. She likes lists and wants to see the items go away. I know she and I have talked about the fact this is only a list and we can both use it to pull from when deciding what to work on for the day or week. She keeps her daily record of what she works on in a spiral notebook. I use this same notebook to communicate written notes to her also, as I am not always in the office when she is.
Disgrace hd Elizabeth needed a review though, for her own comfort level, of how to use the two different lists and about my expectations. The outcome was, in her words, that she needed to modify her own expectations of the Master To-Do List. It will always be long as I am an idea person and am never hurting for projects to work on.
So far so good…at least we aren’t having to talk about getting her motivated to pay attention to the list or to do more!!!
